West Market's Dream of Tainan〈西市場之台南夢〉

作品以「攤位」為核心，將臺南西市場從日治時期的商號風格與戰後的經營型態並置於同一空間。中央招牌牆一側重現昭和時期的視覺語彙，另一側則呈現戰後市場內從服飾工作坊到雜貨食舖的各式招牌，讓不同時代的記憶在此交會。
兩側立柱分別以日治時期西市場的兩大生鮮類別發想：一側從魚販、海產延伸至今日的鮮魚料理；另一側從蔬果攤販循著府城炎夏的消暑需求，演繹出冰果室到水果切盤的在地風土。
作品中央還設置了軌道互動裝置，靈感源自日治時期行經西市場的「手押台車」。觀眾可以操作小型台車沿軌道移動，象徵性地重走一段已消逝的城市動線。

招牌是店家的臉孔，名稱標記時代更迭，軌道串聯城市的血脈。當這些元素交會於此，重建的不僅是物件的樣貌，更是那些曾經在招牌底下流轉、在叫賣聲中交織的庶民日常。

Taking the market stall as its central motif, the work brings together the visual character of Tainan West Market during the Japanese colonial period and the commercial culture that developed there after the war. The central signboard wall juxtaposes Shōwa era design language with postwar signs representing clothing workshops, grocery stores, and food stalls, allowing memories from different periods to converge within the same space.
The two side columns draw on the market’s major fresh-food trades. One traces a lineage from fish and seafood vendors to contemporary fresh fish cuisine, while the other connects fruit and vegetable stalls with Tainan’s summer food culture, from traditional ice parlors to cut fruit stands.
An interactive rail installation at the center is inspired by the hand-pushed carts that once travelled through West Market. By moving a small cart along the track, visitors symbolically retrace a route that has disappeared from the urban landscape.

Signboards serve as the faces of businesses, recording shifts in language, commerce, and time, while the railway evokes the circulation of the city. Together, these elements reconstruct not only the physical appearance of the market, but also the everyday life once shaped by vendors, customers, shop signs, and street calls.
